Job Title: Grants Manager/Grant Writer (Part Time)

Foundation Rwanda is looking for an experienced Grant Writer & Grant Manager is to support our institutional fundraising and communication efforts. Responsibilities include identifying and qualifying prospective private and corporate foundation and government agency funders; writing, editing and submitting communications to funders, including proposals, reports and acknowledgement letters; and the end of year fundraising news for our annual report.
The Grant Writer must be an excellent writer and have strong non-profit development experience and proven interpersonal and project management skills. He/She must be a self-starter, self-motivated and able to work under pressure. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills as well as a serious attention to details and deadlines. This person will also have knowledge of or be able to learn Salesforce.com, Foundation Rwanda’s fundraising database, to manage and report on prospects, proposal submission deadlines and outcomes, grant reporting deadlines, and funder communications. *Flexible work schedule, ability to work independently, but needs to be available for weekly staff meeting on site or via skype.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- BA degree and 3+ years’ grant writing experience, preferably in a non-profit environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and the process of institutional grant seeking, including methods and resources for grant research
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) & Salesforce.com
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills. Must be able to compose compelling letters of intent, grants, reports, and other appropriate funder documentation
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyze statistical data Ability to prepare and analyze program budgets for use in grant proposals and reports;
- Ability to manage all aspects of the proposal preparation process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Executive Director to identify, research and qualify prospective private and corporate grant makers and government funders
- Know how to “tell the story” of the organization in exciting and passionate way
- Maintain accurate grant and contract prospect information and manage, update and report on grant prospect information in Salesforce.com
- Track proposal and reporting deadlines and report on grant-related efforts
- Write, edit and prepare complete and compelling grant proposals to raise funds for specific FR programs pertaining to education, income generating opportunities for women and trauma counseling as well as general operating funds Write and prepare timely and accurate grant reports for current funders;
- Prepare program budgets and other proposal attachments, as needed, for proposal and report submissions;
- Prepare and send letters of acknowledgement for grants awarded, and other communications to funders, as needed;
- Keep ED informed of fundraising efforts and successes, including the preparation of monthly fundraising reports;

Job Title: Executive Administrative Assistant

Foundation Rwanda is looking for a dedicated individual to join small but dynamic team. We are looking for an outgoing, deeply committed, detail and results-oriented, able to juggle numerous projects, flexible, and has the ability to work closely with the Executive Director and high-profile donors. Position includes organizational and administrative responsibilities.
Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be highly organized and thorough, possess strong analytical, planning, troubleshooting and computer skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of the global AIDS pandemic, international development and/or the history of Rwanda is essential. This position reports to the Executive Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate, manage and monitor ongoing and short-term programs and projects.
- Serve as key member of production team for major events including Food & Fotos NY & LA, board meetings, film screenings, exhibitions and presentations.
- Manage international delegations, special projects and campaigns, including support for production of Foundation Rwanda outreach materials
- Liaise with coalition, non-profit, educational, public and private sector partners and cultivate new relationships for curriculum guide and traveling exhibition.
- Work with Executive Director and local Rwanda staff to produce publications, materials, and update website. Responsibilities include research, writing and editing content.
- Prepare program and reports for Board, and staff for various Board Committees.
- Serve as representative for Foundation Rwanda at conferences, meetings, and other events as needed.
- Participate in recruitment and management of interns.
REQUIRED SKILLS/BACKGROUND:
- Commitment to women’s issues, Rwanda, addressing the HIV/AIDS pandemic and stigma of rape used as a weapon of war, and FR’s mission as a whole.
- Work experience in the non-profit, public policy, and/or philanthropic arena.
- Grant proposal writing experience preferred.
- Computer savvy and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce.com, Constantcontact.com
- Excellent research, writing and oral communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Sound judgment and logical thinking. Capable of confidentiality and discretion.
- College degree and full-time work experience.
- Sense of humor and team player.
This is a full-time position, with extra hours, some evenings and weekends required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
